About BMW Auckland Regatta

About the Regatta

The BMW Auckland Regatta is a joint initative between the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron and Bucklands Beach Yacht Club. The event is run by the Auckland Regatta Trust.

q Annual event for Auckland’s sailing calendar with potential to develop into a key sailing regatta attracting over 200 yachts and over 1,500 sailors.

q The initiative was developed as a platform to expand sailing interest in the Auckland region, to develop a premier amateur yachting event that Auckland can call “it’s own”, and to strengthen relationships within the Auckland sailing fraternity.

q BMW Auckland Regatta is a 3-day regatta with up to 10 races; windward/leeward and harbour courses; up to 14 divisions.

q The winning skipper and crew from each division of the BMW Auckland Regatta are then invited to compete in the New Zealand BMW Sailing Cup. This event is run by BMW in association with the Auckland Regatta Trust.

q The winning skipper and crew of the New Zealand BMW Sailing Cup will progress to the international final of the BMW Sailing Cup held in 2010 hosted by BMW. The prestigeous event held at Lake Garda, Italy was won by the New Zealand team Triple 8 in April 2009.
