Welcome

Welcome from Mark Gilbert, Managing Director of BMW Group New Zealand

Yachting is one of BMW's core premium sporting engagements and BMW is proud to again be the principal partner of the 2011 BMW Auckland Regatta and the BMW Sailing Cup, widely acknowledged as the world’s pinnacle of amateur sailing.

In 2010, BMW and the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron hosted the BMW Sailing Cup World Final, a regatta involving seven teams from NZ, Europe and Asia.

Just as the competition found the previous year in Italy, the Kiwi team skippered by Phil Robertson was ruthless in their pursuit of victory and successfully defended their title on the Waitemata Harbour.

It is testimony to the quality of our local competition and the calibre of Kiwi contestants that we achieve such remarkable success on the water – and long may this continue.

BMW have long been associated with quality, high performance and efficiency and we are delighted to bring these valuable attributes to the BMW Auckland Regatta and BMW Sailing Cup.

We see sailing as offering an ideal environment through which to communicate with our customers and promote BMW’s key values such as precision, dynamism, sportsmanship and being the ultimate driving machine.

I would like to wish all teams participating in the respective regattas every success and good luck.
