Welcome

BMW Auckland Regatta
Commodores Welcome

The Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron and Bucklands Beach Yacht Club have continued their work together to bring you the third BMW Auckland Regatta.
The event has established itself on Auckland’s sailing calendar as the premium amateur event for keelboat sailors. The event is becoming renowned for delivering professional race management, fair sailing conditions, highly competitive sailing and a social calendar to match. The BMW NZ Sailing Cup has delivered competitive amateur crews to events in Dubai and Lake Garda who have performed to the standards we expect from our best sailors.

We were delighted at the win by Roger Pagani and his crew at Lake Garda which has spurred our sponsor BMW to bring the BMW World Sailing Cup to New Zealand in March 2010.

We are confident that the 2010 Regatta will be even better and that it will continue to attract growing support from you the sailors. It is after all "your regatta".

Special thanks for the support from all sponsors in particular naming rights sponsor BMW New Zealand and key sponsors KPMG, Auckland City Council
and Manukau City Council.

We welcome all visitors traveling to Auckland for this regatta. We wish you all good sailing!

Welcome from Mark Gilbert,Managing Director of BMW Group New Zealand

The BMW Auckland Regatta, culminating in the BMW Sailing Cup, is without doubt the premiere amateur sailing series on the New Zealand event calendar. And this year’s event promises to surpass the success of previous years after the Kiwi crew of Triple 8 triumphed in Italy , bringing home the World BMW Sailing Cup trophy.

This tremendous result, in just the second year of holding the event, is testimony to the quality of our local competition and the calibre of kiwi contestants. We look forward to another series of closely fought races to find the crew that will travel to Europe and defend the World BMW Sailing Cup.

BMW’s comprehensive commitment to competitive sailing reflects our pursuit of excellence in building the ultimate driving machine. I trust that our shared passion and competitive spirit will deliver another outstanding event this year.
Message from John Banks Auckland City Mayor.
Auckland City Council is once again proud to sponsor the BMW Auckland Regatta.
Auckland is at the centre of New Zealand’s world class marine sector and we are a key destination both nationally and internationally for major marine events.
BMW Auckland Regatta is just one example of a number of high profile marine events Auckland City Council supports. Others include the upcoming Festival of Sail – incorporating the Omega Auckland Match Race Regatta, Louis Vuitton Trophy Auckland, and BMW Sailing World Cup Final – as well as the Auckland Seafood Festival and Auckland International Boat Show.
I hope you all enjoy this event.
